What Is 4/9 as a Decimal + Solution With Free Steps

4by9 As A DecimalThe fraction 4/9 as a decimal is equal to 0.444.

When we divide a number by another number, we are essentially Breaking one down into bits of the other’s value. This is called the operation of Division; this division is therefore not always completed in the form of Integers. These are the circumstances where we have to resort to expressing said numbers as either Fractions or Decimal Numbers.

Hence, a fraction and a decimal number both are interchangeable, which means we can convert a Fraction into a Decimal Number. And once a fraction is converted into a decimal number, it has two parts, one is the Whole Number, and the other is the Decimal Number.

So to find the calculated decimal number corresponding to our Fraction, we go on and use a method called Long Division. We will go through the fraction’s solution below.

Solution

We begin solving this Fraction by first taking apart its constituents and transforming them into Division components. We will turn the numerator into the Dividend and the denominator into the Divisor. This can be seen done here:

Dividend = 4

Divisor = 9

According to the concept of Division, we take our dividend of 4 and break it down into 9 pieces, and one of these pieces is what corresponds to the Fraction itself. This solution is thus referred to as the Quotient, and can be seen as follows:

Quotient = Dividend $\div$ Divisor = 4 $\div$ 9

Now, we are going to go through the Long Division Solution to our problem:

4/9 Long Division Method

4/9 Long Division Method

Using the Long Division Method, we have to keep two things in check, one is to handle when the dividend is Smaller than the divisor, and the other is to solve for the dividend. The dividend is solved by using the Multiple of the divisor closest and smaller than the dividend.

This is later Subtracted from the dividend, and that produces the Remainder. This Remainder will then become the dividend in the next iteration of the division. And under circumstances when the dividend is smaller than the divisor, we Multiply it by 10 using the Decimal Point.

40 $\div$ 9 $\approx$ 4

Where:

9 x 4 = 36

Hence, it generates a remainder equal to 40 – 36 = 4, we, therefore, get the new dividend as 4, and it is smaller than 9. So, we multiply a ten to it again, and solve for 40/9:

40 $\div$ 9 $\approx$ 4

Where:

9 x 3 = 36

Now, we again have a Remainder equal to 40 – 36 = 4, which means that the remainder is repeating, and so will the Quotient. Under such circumstances, we will drop further solutions to this problem and will resort to assuming the rest of the Results.

We can thus conclude that the Quotient of this division is 0.444 with a Repeating Decimal Number of 4 and a remainder of 4.Pie Chart 4 by 9 Long Division Method
